The Sunflower Galaxy M63 is a spectacular spiral galaxy situated in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici. Its nickname derives from its unique visual appearance. Its spiral arms are not as long and well-defined as in other galaxies, but appear fragmented, complex and discontinuous. This arrangement of short arms, rich in interstellar dust clouds, surrounding the luminous nucleus is reminiscent of the precise geometry of the petals and centre of a sunflower.
