I started photographing this nebula in December 2024 with the intention of accumulating many hours of acquisition but, unfortunately, I had to surrender to the weather and the fact that Orion is now gone for this year from my location. I would have liked to accumulate mostly more broadband signal but patience, I'll settle for it anyway.
The original framed field is wider than the one you see in the photo but I didn't like it much because all around it there are dusts that I can't highlight from my sky polluted (now irreparably) by LED streetlights. In the end, I found a good compromise with a simple crop on the reflection area catalogued as Cederblad 51.
Located north of the star λ Orionis (Meissa), Cederblad 51 is a small reflection nebula (the two bluish areas) nested in the emission nebula Sh2-264, sometimes called ‘Orion's Head’. Ced 51 appears split in two by a cloud of dust in the foreground.
There are a few Herbig-Haro objects nearby, indicating recent star formation.
