IC 1284

Filters: Optolong L-CCD (UV/IR Cut)
The second object imaged at the end of June, again below, this time in Sagittarius. Located about 5,000 light-years away, IC 1284 is an emission nebula surrounded by reflection nebulae (NGC 6589 and NGC 6590) and dense dark nebulae.
The ionized hydrogen emits the classic reddish light, while the dust reflects the blue of hot young stars. Even without narrow-band filters, the region's complexity emerges forcefully: emission, reflection, and dense dust intertwine in a cosmic landscape rich in depth.
